Spending time outdoors requires clothing built for the environment. Your clothes need to protect you from exposure to the elements while also being as comfortable as possible for extended wear. When it comes to fishing, I have found the Patagonia Guidewater II pants perform well in any situation. From hours in the kayak exposed to the sun or wading a small stream, the Guidewater II’s are right at home.
The Guidewater II are technical pants built for fishing. The pants are made from a 100% recycled performance nylon. The material has a durable water repellant (DWR) finish that helps them shed water quickly and provides 50+ UPF protection against UVA and UVB rays. If the pants do get wet, they are quick to dry. There are two side hand pockets and two zippered pockets, one on the lower right leg and the other on the right back.
The fit of the Guidewater IIs are kept comfortable with an elastic waist that moves with you. The elastic is help full in lowering the instances of “yak crack” (kayak angler’s version of plumber’s crack). If the elastic just isn’t enough then you also have belt loops. There are also stretch panels in the seat, thigh, and front knee areas to increase the freedom of movement and comfort.
